Two days after the Chick-fil-A saw record turnout and profit from its "Appreciation Day," gay rights organizations are hosting the "National Same-Sex Kiss Day" in opposition to the president of the fried chicken company spoke against same-sex marriage.

Protestors are requesting same-sex partners to kiss outside their local Chick-fil-A restaurants. The protest is in reaction to Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy, who said he supports the "biblical definition of the family unit" and called supporters of gay marriage as "arrogant."

The idea for the "kiss-in" is being credited to Dallas political activist Carly McGehee. According to the activist, more than 15,000 people have committed to take part after she posted the announcement on her Facebook page on July 19.

McGehee has referred to the fried chicken company as "supporting hate and bigotry and intolerance."

She added, "[Cathy] has the right to do that, but he has to be prepared for the backlash, for the repercussions. This is America."

"Consumers and communities have every right to speak up when a company's president accuses them of inviting God's wrath' by treating their LGBT friends, neighbors and family members with respect," said Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) President Herndon Graddick.

Chick-fil-A spokesperson Steve Robinson put the "kiss-in" movement aside, stating the company will still provide "great food, genuine hospitality and to have a positive influence on all who come into contact with Chick-fil-A."

According to USA Today, police are investigation graffiti discovered on the side of a Chick-fil-A in Torrance. The graffiti read, "Tastes like hate" with a picture of a cow.

In Illinois, the gay rights group The Civil Rights Agenda (TCRA) filed an official complaint stating the company violated the Illinois Human Rights Act, due to Cathy's statement.

A video surfaced on the internet featuring the chief financial officer (CFO) of medical supplies manufacturer Vante. The CFO, named Adam Smith, is shown making remarks to a drive-thru Chick-fil-A worker about Cathy's comment. Smith was fired from his job after the video was released. (below)

There has been support to Chick-fil-A as former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee created an "Appreciation Day" on Aug. 1. The "appreciation" was well-received with the company earning "record profit."
