Could the legendary chupacabra be real? According to one Texas family, not only is the mythical creature a real thing, but they captured it.

The chupacabra, whose name literally means "goat sucker," is a creature who legend says is responsible for killing plenty of farmers' livestock, especially goats and even cows. The animal is believed to live in various parts of the Americas, including Latin America.

No evidence exists that the chupacabra is real, until now, perhaps.

"[My husband] called me to come and look, and I said, 'Bubba, that looks like a baby chupacabra,'" Jackie Stock said.

Stock said the encounter happened Sunday night in Ratcliffe, a tiny town in DeWitt County in Southern Texas. The creature was reportedly found in the woods.

"I hunted coons for 20 years with dogs, and I ain't never seen nothing looks like that right there," Arlen Parma, Stock's husband and the alleged chupacabra capturer, said.

According to reports, the creature matches the chupacabra's description with its big claws, many teeth, frightening growl and hairfree back.

"A coon don't make that noise, or a possum," Parma explained. "What makes that noise? I guess a chupacabra does. I don't know."

According to reports, "most people" in the county believe that the chupacabra has finally been captured alive. Brent Ortego, a Texas Parks and Wildlife biologist in wildlife diversity, on the other hand, believes that the unignorable lack of back hair could just be a result of mange.

"The animal in the cage as best I can tell from the view was some sort of a small canine," he said.

Instead, Ortego suspects that the creature could be anything from a fox, to a coyote, to a mere dog.

"It's never been proven to be a unique species," the scientist continued. "It was always something out there that allegedly either caused harm or threatened to cause harm to people or their livestock."

For now, the "chupacabra" is staying with the family who found it. It will continue to eat cat food and corn until its identity is confirmed.
