Sony announced during PSX 2015 that a new PlayStation Now membership option will be arriving this week.

Beginning on Tuesday, Dec. 8, PlayStation 4 users can purchase a 12-month subscription to the game streaming service for only $100.

In a recent PlayStation Blog post, PlayStation Now marketing director James Martin indicated that the offer will provide a savings of more than 55 percent compared to the standard one-month rate.

Existing PlayStation Now members can also purchase the new package to extend their one-month or three-month subscriptions. Martin said that the special offer is only good for a limited time; however, there was no mention of when the promo period would last. At any rate, when the deal eventually goes live on Tuesday, interested takers will be able to pick it up here.

Martin also reveals the following nine new Warner Bros. titles that have been added to PlayStation Now's library:

  •  Batman: Arkham Asylum
  •  Batman: Arkham Origins
  •  Injustice: Gods Among Us
  •  Mortal Kombat
  •  F.E.A.R (single-player campaign mode only)
  •  The Lego Movie Video Game
  •  Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4
  •  Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7
  •  Lego Batman: The Video Game

PlayStation Now is offered on multiple Sony devices, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV. Right now, it has over 250 available games in its stable. Prior to the aforementioned list, new "BioShock" and "Borderlands" titles were added earlier this month.

What exactly is PlayStation Now? Well, it's a cloud-based gaming service that lets gamers play PS3 titles by streaming them over the internet. It's basically Netflix for games.

"PS Now will deliver blockbuster and critically acclaimed PS3 games streamed via the cloud on numerous Internet-connected devices; giving more people the opportunity to experience the world of PlayStation," a spokesperson from Sony explained on DailyStar.

PlayStation Now allows users to instantly enjoy their favorite games not only on the PlayStation 4 but on other Sony platforms as well.

The accessibility of PS Now means PlayStation 4 users in the living room can resume their game on a PlayStation 3 system in their bedrooms, as per Sony via FreshlyTechy. On the other hand, PlayStation Vita users can have direct access to games wherever there's Wi-Fi connection outdoors. They can then play the same game on a supported big-screen Bravia TV after arriving home.

Gamers can choose between merely renting a single title or purchasing a subscription which will provide large quantities of games. PlayStation Now also supports PlayStation Network features such as online multi-player, messages and trophies.
