Although there were many things that Jimmy Fallon and Bernie Sanders could have talked about Tuesday night on "The Tonight Show," there was one in particular that came right to the forefront early on -- Donald Trump.

According to Deadline, Sanders, who is a Senator from Vermont and a Democratic Presidential candidate, went on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" and the host only had one thing on his mind. He wanted to know what Sanders thought of the current rhetoric being uttered by Donald Trump, particularly about his call to ban all Muslims from entering the U.S.

As many already know, Sanders is a Liberal Independent and is quite vocal about his calls for equality. Since he is currently on the campaign trail in the primaries, most of his scathing criticism has been about other issues that his Democratic colleagues tend to focus on without any comments that criticize race or religion.

So you might already realize that Sanders had taken issue with Trump's comments, although he did keep his comments about him brief.

"Jimmy, throughout history you have had demagogues trying to divert attention away from the real issues," Sanders began and continued on with examples of his own platform for better healthcare, minimizing the gap in wealth and climate change.

But he quickly got back on topic and spoke directly about Trump's plan to deal with Muslims.

"What somebody like a Trump is trying to do is to divide us up," Sanders said. "A few months ago we were supposed to hate Mexicans. He thinks they're all criminals or rapists. Now we're supposed to hate Muslims. That kind of crap is not going to work in the United States of America."

His comment got enormous applause from the audience. He also said that although he thinks he is going to beat Hillary Clinton in the primaries, it is the showdown with Trump that he most looks forward to.
