The trailer for the live-action "The Legend of Tarzan" film has been released by Warner Bros.

Alexander Skarsgard and Christoph Waltz are featured in the two-minute clip, which is the first glimpse into the upcoming movie, according to Newsweek.

Skarsgard plays the title character, while Waltz plays the role of the villain, Captain Leon Rom, who captures Tarzan's wife Jane, played by Margot Robbie.

In the trailer, Waltz says to Jane, "He's Tarzan, you're Jane. He'll come for you."

Some of the scenes in the trailer include Tarzan swinging on vines through the trees, men firing off cannons, gorillas running through the jungle, and Tarzan jumping off of a huge cliff.

This forthcoming version of "Tarzan" is a different take on the old story. In this interpretation of the tale, Tarzan and Jane return to the jungle, after years away, as representatives of British parliament to the Congo. Only once they arrive in Africa do they realize they are in danger.

"It's almost the opposite of the classic tale, where it's about taming the beast," Skarsgard told USA Today. "This is about a man who's holding back and slowly as you peel off the layers, he reverts back to a more animalistic state and lets that side of his personality out."

David Yates, who helmed the "Harry Potter" films, directed the upcoming movie. He said he hopes to surprise his audience with this updated version of the story.

"Tarzan needs muscles, but it's more a leaner, longer, more vertical modern man than the square-jawed stereotype we're used to," Yates told USA Today.

Writing credits for the film go to Edgar Rice Burroughs, Stuart Beattie, Craig Brewer, John Collee and Adam Cozad.

Additional cast members in the film include Samuel L Jackson, who plays George Washington Williams, and Djimon Hounsou, who takes on the role of Chief Mbonga.

"The Legend of Tarzan" will be released in theaters on July 1, 2016.
