Microsoft has created a new product that is set to compete with iPad Mini 2, LG G Pad and the Google Nexus 8 -- the Microsoft Surface Mini tablet. This Surface Mini features an Intel Bay Trail CPU. It also has a full 1080p 8.5-inch touchscreen. It was supposed to be launched earlier along with Surface 2 and Pro 2. However, due to some conflicts with the launch of other devices, the release of Surface Mini was temporarily delayed.

The Surface Mini is considered to be a more flexible version of the Pro 2 and RT. The RT has a bigger screen display size, which is 10.5 inches. It also runs on 2048MB memory. Although it is considered great when it comes to industrial design and keyboard options, it is found lacking in terms of software. It does not have complete app support which makes it somewhat inflexible. The Pro 2 on the other hand runs via an Intel 4th Gen Core i5 processor with 10.6 inches of ClearType Full HD Display. It has a long battery life and has a perfect mix of touchscreen use, keyboard movement and pen movement. The only problem is that it is heavy and the base storage is not quite big enough.

The Surface Mini is an improved version of Microsoft's tablet lineup. The camera has the ability to distinguish between the movement of the hands as well as the face of the user. It is also considered much better than the "Air Gestures" introduced by Samsung Galaxy S4 and Note 3. Surface Mini runs completely with Windows 8.1. This model is also considered a tablet PC and a smartphone at the same time. This model is up for launch in June 2014. If rumors are to be believed, this model will be priced to compete with the iPad Mini and Google Nexus.
