Paulina Gretzky is a celebutante, or in other words she's famous for being famous.

The daughter of hockey icon Wayne Gretzky is all the rage these days. She's best known for her scintillating Instagram photos, outrageously sexy Maxim spread and for being engaged to PGA Tour Golfer and The Open Championship 2011 runner-up Dustin Johnson. But her latest photo shoot, with popular Golf Digest magazine, is causing an uproar.

Obviously the goal of any mass-market magazine is to sell as many issues as possible. So it certainly makes sense that Golf Digest put Gretzky on the cover. After all, the 25-year-old is extremely marketable and again is engaged to a widely known golf pro. She's also holding a golf club on the cover, so Gretzky is exactly out-of-place. And while Gretzky may not be able to drive a golf ball several hundred yards she certainly drives men (and to be fair some women) of all ages crazy.

But the LPGA tour is aghast at why Golf Digest would feature her on a magazine. The LPGA Tour does have some good points though. It wants a female golf pro on the cover of a golf magazine. That's understandable and reasonable especially considering that women's golf is growing at a fast rate. And it's also more alarming that the last female golfer to make the cover was Lorena Ochoa back in 2008. For those of you that don't know Ochoa is perhaps the best female golfer ever.

Yet, where was all the rage when Sports Illustrated "It Girl" Kate Upton appeared on the cover alongside the legendary Arnold Palmer? No one at all seemed to mind. Or what about the time when Golf Channel Anchor (note: not an actual LPGA golfer) Holly Sonders graced the front cover? Sonders was actually more exposed than Gretzky was on the cover, thanks to her very short-shorts! Thus, the Paulina Gretzky hate is scathing and ridiculous.

The New York Times caught up with some female golf pros and here's what they had to say about the brewing controversy, aka golfgate.

"We don't get respect for being the golfers that we are," two-time major winner Stacy Lewis stated. "Obviously, Golf Digest is trying to sell magazines. But at the same time you'd like to see a little respect for the women's game."

Seven-time champ Juli Inkster added: "It's frustrating because it's Golf Digest; it's not Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue. I think they should maybe recognize some of the great women golfers that we have."
