Just before taking an 18-month hiatus, One Direction had a special and last performance for the year at Sunday night's "X Factor" finals, bidding the group goodbye for now as the famous British boy band was given tribute in the show that kicked off their musical career.

Performing their latest hit "Infinity," Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan gave their last group performance of the year as they will reportedly take a well-deserved break from music and fame and will be spending some time with their families and friends during the holidays and the rest of their 18-month time off.

The Daily Mail reports that the group, as always, treated their fans to a one final special performance back on the stage where they were first discovered and formed as a group by the show's judge, Simon Cowell. Cowell even praised the group and reminisced what happened years ago when he first met them, which previously included Zayn Malik.

"Well, this takes me back five years ago when I met five guys, singing as solo artists, then I never could have predicted what happened next. I know you're gonna take a break, you deserve it," Cowell said as quoted by the publication. "I want to take a chance now to say, thank you, you've been an absolute pleasure to work with. Five of the nicest guys I ever met. Enjoy the time off, have a fantastic time," he added.

However, despite what many might have speculated, the night wasn't over yet even after Cowell's heartfelt speech. The Sun reported that the group were given a tribute by many other stars including David Beckham, Danny DeVito and Little Mix.

Actor and U.S. TV host James Corden, who's message was seen in a special video clip for One Direction during the memorable night, asked the four men to come back right away. "My boys please don't be away too long because we're going to miss you. And we love you," he said as quoted by the news outlet.

Furthermore, Robbie Williams also urged the same thing in a message, saying, "Come back fitter, faster and stronger. Lots of love." Actor DeVito even made a hilarious comment to the four-piece band urging them to spend their money during the break.

"Danny D here, I heard you're going to take a little break, spend some of that money you earned, good for you. While you're at it, take a couple of acting lessons," he said as quoted by the news agency.
