AT&T has announced a new promo that gets customers a free Samsung Galaxy S6, but before interested takers scurry to the nearest AT&T store or head over to the carrier's website, there are a couple of things to bear in mind.

First off, to be eligible for the free Galaxy S6, costumers must purchase a separate Samsung flagship device. The choices are a Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, S6 Active or a Note 5. After that, they'll have to open a new line of service for the Galaxy S6.

Both the extra Galaxy S6 and any of the aforementioned Samsung smartphones must be subscribed to AT&T's 24-month Next plan. The plan normally has customers paying for a smartphone via installments for two years. In the case of the new promo, customers need to dole out a minimum of $70 per month.

In addition, customers still have to pay for the "free" Galaxy S6, either via installments or by purchasing it in full cash. Then, for the succeeding 30 months, AT&T will give a monthly price cut of $22 for 30 months. That's a discount of approximately $650. Simply put, the carrier will recompense customers after they have purchased the "free" Galaxy S6.

If by any chance customers decide to drop their AT&T plan, they will have to pay the remaining balance to keep the smartphone.

This deal is well-suited for those who are already planning to subscribe to AT&T, especially those who are looking for a second smartphone to give to a loved one this holiday season. That said, the offer isn't as straightforward as AT&T is promoting it to be. Interested takers are highly advised to read through the terms and conditions before pulling the trigger. They shouldn't take too long though since the promo is only valid until New Year's Eve.

In other AT&T news, the carrier is also offering the new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Gold Platinum Edition. Click here to access its product listing.

AT&T only has the 64GB internal memory model of the Gold Platinum Note 5. Mobile plans begin at $28 per month. That's $350 with a two-year contract. Outside of its brand-new motif, the Gold Platinum Galaxy Note 5 has the same innards featured on previous color variants.

The smartphone rocks a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen carrying a 1440 x 2560 resolution display and Samsung's octa-core Exynos 7420 chipset under the hood. There's 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB internal memory with no micro-SD card slot, per GSMArena.

The device is flanked between a 16-megapixel back camera and a five-megapixel front-facing shooter. Lastly, a 3,000 mAh battery keeps the pistons pumping.
