"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" is not getting a public open beta, which means that in order for fans to continue playing its online multiplayer game beta, they need to actually buy the "Uncharted 4: The Nathan Drake Collection."

The Play Station Blog featured the closed beta of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" that started last Dec. 9 at 12 p.m. PT and ends on Dec. 13 at 12 p.m. PT. The closed beta, which had a limited playtime, is available to all those who purchased "Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection."

Despite its online multiplayer version needing to have a PlayStation Plus account for PlayStation 4 players, the closed multiplayer beta relinquished that requirement over the weekend just so players can try the game for free.

At the start of the closed multiplayer beta, Arne Meyer detailed the rules on how to join the contest over the weekend. Around 50 players were entitled to get a prize after joining the contest, which includes a digital copy of the "Uncharted: A Thief's End." However, only one player will have the chance to win the "Uncharted: A Thief's End Libertalia Collector's Edition."

Although the contest has already ended, it's still notable to see how the players fared and take a look at the photo entries submitted on Naughty Dog's Twitter and Facebook feeds.

Meanwhile, in a recent interview with Naughty Dog's game designer Robert Cogburn, he cited reasons why "Uncharted: A Thief's End" is the last of the series. He said, "These games are hard to make. Particularly in a world that's fairly grounded. It's a challenge to consider how much more we can expand the universe while adhering to those sorts of rules."

In his interview with Kotaku, Cogburn also said that while the Uncharted series has brought them so much success in the world of gaming, the team obviously needs to break out from its concept and the struggle to answer questions over and over about the "Uncharted" series have been real.

Christian Today reports that Arne Meyer of Naughty Dog confirmed that there would be no open beta for the "Uncharted: A Thief's End," and players who weren't able to play its closed beta will have to see the game again on its final version.

Were you able to play the closed multiplayer beta of the "Uncharted: A Thief's End?" What do you think of Naughty Dog ending its "Uncharted" series and venturing on new games after this?
