The tech comedy Silicon Valley, now a TV series on HBO, aired its first episode via the show's YouTube channel. Silicon Valley is the fourth TV series to debut on HBO this year (the other three series are Looking, True Detective and Doll & Em).

Silicon Valley, written by Mike Judge of King of the Hill, tells the story of Richard, an entry-level coder at Hooli (a made-up Google), which is located in Silicon Valley. He lives in a small house, owned by Erlich, together with five more computer programmers. They are allowed to live in the house for free, but are required to give Erlich a 10% cut from their projects (Erlich became a millionaire by selling a water fountain locator app).

An app created by Richard caught the attention of Gavin, the arrogant chairman of Hooli, and Peter Gregory, Gavin's peculiar ex-partner. Gavin and Jared, Gavin's assistant, wanted to purchase the app and instantly offered Richard a large amount of money. Peter, on the other hand, offered to buy into the promising company for a lesser price and see how far it would go.

What will Richard choose? To sell the app and receive full payment or choose a larger bet where he could become a successful businessman in Silicon Valley?

Following the advice of Monica, an associate of Peter's, Richard chose Peter's offer to establish his own company.

Silicon Valley premiered last Sunday, April 6, 1014 on HBO.

The cast of Silicon Valley:

  •  Thomas Middleditch as Richard
  •  Josh Brener as Big Head
  •  T.J. Miller as Erlich
  •  Amanda Crew as Monica
  •  Zack Woods as Jared
  •  Kumail Nanjiani as Dinesh
  •  Matt Ross as Gavin
  •  Christopher Evan Welch as Peter Gregory

If the previous shows created by Mike Judge are any indication, Silicon Valley promises to be witty, vulgar and funny.
