Coffee Stain Studios, the developer of Goat Simulator, has announced that the game will have a split screen multiplayer mode in patch 1.1 (its next version). It had previously announced that the physics engine of the popular title could not be coordinated across numerous computers, therefore making online multiplayer impossible. However, they initiated a split screen method that can accommodate two to four local gamers in co-op play.

Armin Ibrisagic, the game designer, told Polygon during an interview that they expect the modder community to go absolutely nuts when it comes to making multiplayer content within the game's upcoming addition, which has the split screen option.

Coffee Stain initiated a modern new physics playground in the new version. According to Ibrisagic, this is because the company wants to create a huge and amusing area where Easter eggs and other secrets can be incorporated. The map will also have a carnival that features a Ferris wheel that can be revolved extremely quickly by charging it with electrical cables and car batteries.

Ibrisagic added that the multiplayer method will remain simple and uncomplicated. However, it does not mean that gamers are restricted to this part of the game with the new version. With the inclusion of Steam Workshop support in the Goat Simulator, modders will have the opportunity to run free with creating modern gameplay types that are applicable for two to four gamers. He further stated that modders can expect to have new experiences with the multiplayer game, adding to the likelihood of two to four gamers playing at the same time. Ibrisagic said that the company would like to see gamers creating mods such as goat hockey or football and other Mario Party-type mini games in the workshop.

The company is confident that modders will have more amusing stuff to use in the split screen multiplayer mode even if they are not able to create any multiplayer maps for this patch.
