The popular comedy series Police Academy will soon be made into a movie through New Line/Warner Bros. After comedians Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele signed a contract to be a part of the Police Academy film, it is now just a matter of time before the filming begins. Both actors are known for their Comedy Central sketch comedy show (which has been running since Jan. 31, 2012). Key and Peele, who have also been included in MADtv, can be recently seen in the episodes for the third season of their show. The show was renewed and it will have a Season 4.

Those who have watched the Key & Peele series will most likely enjoy these actors' venture on to the big screen. New Line/Warner Bros. has long thought about re-launching Police Academy. Director Scott Zabielski, who was in-charge of the 2012 project, so far has not been included to direct the new movie. Paul Maslanksky, the original producer of the series, is still a part of the movie. According to Maslansky, the movie will feature new faces and well-known comedians making it a whole new group. He also said that the musical score will be retained.

Police Academy has a total of seven movies to its credit. The first series was shown in 1984 while the last series was shown in 1994 (Mission to Moscow). Police Academy actors include: Steve Guttenberg, Bobcat Goldthwait, G.W. Bailey, Bubba Smith, Marion Ramsey, David Graf, Kim Cattrall (featured in the first series), Michael Winslow, Donovan Scott, Leslie Easterbrook, Sharon Stone, George Gaynes, Bruce Mahler, Ted Ross, George R. Robertson, Debralee Scott, Don Lake Doug Lennox and Gary Farmer.

Steve Guttenberg plays the role of Carey Mahoney, who tries to show that he is capable of being a police officer together with the rest of a group of ill-suited recruits. The whole series has earned ove $242 million worldwide and produced two television series. There are no reports yet as to who will write and direct the new Police Academy film but it is due for release on 2015.
