Comedy Central is sending another one of its own back to the White House Correspondents Dinner as a host. Larry Wilmore, host of "The Nightly Show" on the cable network, has been tapped to host as the featured entertainer for the annual event, which always features well-crafted humor and "roast" style banter from the President, kind of like a way for him to strike back at his pundits.

According to Deadline, Wilmore's unique comedy style and fresh take on current events and issues gave him an express pass to the event as host. The late night host has been a hit with audiences all over for his edgy comedy that takes on a plain simplistic view on his show.

Carol Lee, who is a White House correspondent for The Wall Street Journal and president of the White House Correspondents' Association, spoke about her reasons for choosing Wilmore.

"Larry's edgy, even provocative, brand of humor means he's certainly up to the task of skewering politicians of all ideological stripes, and we don't expect the nation's news media to escape unscathed either," Lee said.

"We are thrilled that Larry has accepted our invitation to be the featured comedian at our annual dinner, which will be the last during the Obama White House."

There have been others from Comedy Central that have been tasked with entertaining at the event That includes Stephen Colbert and Keegan Michael-Key. Key took part in the event last year as a special guest during President Obama's speech, which he served in the capacity of an "anger translator."

Obama's many appearances at the event have been met with uproarious laughter and commanding applause. There have been a few key occasions when he finally got the opportunity to fire back at some of his toughest critics, which includes Donald Trump and Fox News.

Others that have served as entertainer at the event during the Obama Administration includes Jay Leno, Seth Meyers, Joel McHale, Jimmy Kimmel, Conan O'Brien and Cecily Strong.
