Smartphones are one of the hottest commodities this holiday season, and Amazon has announced a rather aggressive promo to shelve out the Moto X Pure Edition.

According to Amazon's product listing, the unlocked 32GB version of the device can be purchased for just $350, a $100 discount from its standard retail price.

Specs include a 5.7-inch 1440 x 2560 Quad HD display, Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM, micro-SD expansion up to 128GB and a non-removable 3,000 mAh battery, per GSMArena.

The Moto X Pure Edition, also known as the Moto X Style in other countries, is not struggling for high-end features. It's an upper mid-range handset at best, but it can hold its own against the best devices that the mobile industry has to offer. It is fitted with a 21-megapixel rear camera along with a five-megapixel selfie shooter with LED flash. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is pre-installed.

Considering the smartphone's wide and super sharp display coupled with its no-nonsense hardware, would-be buyers might draw the conclusion that its $350 price tag is quite agreeable.

Motorola has been consistently solid in this thriving category of bang-for-buck semi high-end devices. Now, for a limited time only, the Moto X Pure Edition is even cheaper than it already is.

PhoneArena was impressed with several aspects of the smartphone, most notably its clear, vivid display and quick-charging feature.

Furthermore, Motorola recently rolled out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Moto X Pure Edition, TechTimes reported. AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and U.S. Cellular customers can pick up the upgrade via over-the-air software update.

Motorola Mobility product director David Schuster posted on his official Google+ account the changes and improvements brought by the Android 6.0 update for the Moto X Pure Edition.

The update adds a slew of new features and visual upgrades. First off, there's Google Now on Tap, a new app that allows more contextual information to be delivered on screen by long pressing the home button. There's also a new battery optimization feature known as Doze, which can identify if the handset is not in use. Android 6.0 will automatically set the device in sleep mode to save precious battery juice.

While in the topic of efficiency, App Standby boosts power usage by setting seldom used apps into a special idle state. Android 6.0 users can decide which apps are put on standby.

The micro-SD slot on Android 6.0 devices can not only save media content but can also be used to expand built-in storage. Alarms and ringtones are also smarter this time with the new OS.
