The upcoming “Into the Badlands” season finale promises to leave audiences of the AMC action series shocked.

A teaser for Episode 6 of Season 1 shows Sunny (Daniel Wu) riding up to a pair of machete wielding guards with a mysterious bloody sack. Moments later he places the sack before a fellow known as the River King (Lance E. Nichols), a man who appears to be doing some serious accounting.

“Your payment in full,” says Sunny.

Speaking to The Wrap, actor and producer Daniel Wu says that the season finale will contain a shocking element. “A big bomb is going to drop," says the 41-year-old Hong Kong-based actor. According to Wu, the show’s ending will provide a major cliffhanger for fans.

In the episode, which is titled “Hand of Five Poisons,” Sunny has made a dark deal with the River King. In order to get out of the Badlands, Sunny must pay a price which involves decapitating M.K. (Aramis Knight).

Wu spoke of the conflict that is occurring within Sunny. “I think he’s really truly struggling,” he said.

The futuristic world of “Into the Badlands” relies heavily upon the confining tropes of a post-apocalyptic society which is nearly impossible to escape from. “It’s like the mafia in that way,” Wu explains. “You can never get out, and if you do get out you’re going to get chased down.”

Wu, whose acting experience has mostly been cinematic, says he appreciates the enthusiasm coming from fans of the series. “It’s really interesting to me because I come from movies and the immediacy of people’s reactions, you’re seeing it happen while the episode is on,” said the actor.

The season finale of “Into the Badlands” will air Dec. 20 at 10 p.m./9c on AMC.
