Actor Mitch Pileggi recently weighed in on what his character Agent Skinner will be up to when the highly anticipated series revival of "The X-Files" arrives in January.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Pileggi said the revival of the classic sci-fi series will surely live up to the hype.

Although there are many reasons to be excited about the new show, Pileggi spoke specifically about his character and Skinner's role moving forward. The actor said the character hasn't changed much from the original broadcast, but he is instrumental in the revival of the X-Files project at the FBI.

When asked about any changes the character has undergone, Pileggi kept his response quite short and sweet.

"He's still in the same office. He's moved his desk," Pileggi told THR.

Even though well over a decade has passed since the original show went off the air, Skinner is still just as dedicated to his job as he was way back in the early '90s.

"That's what it comes down to: the reason he's still an assistant director is because he was hanging out with Spooky for too long," Pileggi said. "He's probably been ... he's probably been ostracized a little bit by the other higher ups in the FBI, because he hasn't advanced."

But it was his dedication to the job that kept him there all these years without advancing his own career. Instead of climbing the ladder, he remains vigilant, carrying out the path that Mulder (David Duchovny) laid out decades before. It seems the work that he undertook with Mulder and Scully (Gillian Anderson) ultimately became somewhat of a disgrace to the federal organization.

"He's very dedicated to Mulder and Scully, but before that, he was very dedicated to his job in the FBI," Pileggi said, explaining why the character is still with the FBI. after all these years of stagnate career growth.

Fans can tune into Fox on Jan. 24, 2016 to catch the premiere episode of "The X-Files."
