If you haven't been updated with the latest WhatsApp news, this might come as a bit of a surprise because according to a report from Blorge, a German website called Macerkopf recently revealed that WhatsApp will soon have the video calling feature.

Despite most users expecting the said feature to come sooner than later, the screenshots provided on the website brought a new wave of hope to WhatsApp users. The rumored feature is expected to launch by January 2016, and, in addition to that, the new WhatsApp update will also have the tabbed interface. Although there are no screenshots to prove that the tabbed interface will be indeed included, it is expected to appear on the next WhatsApp update.

 

The screenshots provided are apparently taken from the beta version of WhatsApp update 2.12.16.2, which is currently under internal testing and has not been released to the public in any form. The WhatsApp administration has not given their formal statement about the leaked images, but should they eventually consider adding the video calling feature, WhatsApp may be the perfect contender to Skype.

The WhatsApp video calling feature may also include multiple chat tabs that allow the user to switch within tabs in order to return to a conversation instead of going back all the way to the chat list.

The new video calling feature of WhatsApp will significantly increase the number of WhatsApp users in no time. Currently, even without any video calling feature in tow, there are over 900 million users of WhatsApp.

Facebook currently owns WhatsApp, acquiring it for $22 billion in the past year. Since then, the application has flourished under the new company's supervision. As popular as it may seem, the video calling feature of WhatsApp seems like a distant venture in the past, but with the new set of rumors accompanied by screenshots, it won't be long before users can actually enjoy it.

WhatsApp is currently one of the most update smartphone apps, but its recent updates have been mostly about bug fixes and system stability. None of them was able to provide new and major features that can deliver the maximum WhatsApp experience.
