Although the horror franchise has been a mainstay for dedicated fans over the years, "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" has been plagued with accidents on the set. This time, the production accident has resulted in the death of a crew member.

According to Deadline, the film's production in South Africa has lost one of its own crew members due to an accidental circumstance.

The report states that crew member Ricardo Cornelius was standing on the set of the production near a Humvee on Dec. 3. The vehicle was parked on a rotating platform, and it eventually rolled off of the platform and crushed Cornelius. He did not die immediately and was rushed to the hospital. But emergency personnel were unable to save his life, and he died just a few hours later.

Although there have been no official comments from the production companies involved in the project, confirmation of his death has been cited by Deadline. There has also been no official word from the project's director, Paul W.S. Anderson. The franchise's leading lady, Milla Jovovich, has also not made any public statements through her Facebook page at this time either.

This is not the first accident that occurred on the set of this project. Stuntwoman Olivia Jackson, who doubles for Jovovich in the film, was also injured and nearly died while performing a stunt for the movie. The incident occurred when she was riding a motorcycle at a very high speed. She ended up crashing into a piece of camera equipment while the scene was being filmed and sustained life-threating injuries as a result.

Jackson spent two weeks in a coma and had severe injuries to her face, brain, ribs, arm and numerous other major breaks. She survived the incident but still has a long recovery.

The film has already completed its production, according to Jovovich's Facebook page. There have been no other reports about incidents that have taken place since completion.
