A newly released end-of-year poll revealed that an overwhelming amount of Americans are dissatisfied with the federal government and divided on their view of Barack Obama's tenure as president.

According to a CNN/ORC poll released on Tuesday, 75 percent of Americans say they are dissatisfied with the way the nation is being governed, while 69 percent said they are at least somewhat angry with the direction of the country.

Meanwhile, 90 percent of Republicans said they are dissatisfied with Washington, D.C., and 82 percent expressed anger with the way things are going in the U.S. today. However, a whopping 97 percent of Republicans supporting Donald Trump's presidential campaign said they are dissatisfied with government, while 91 percent were at least somewhat angry.

The poll, which was conducted from Dec. 17 to Dec. 21, also shows Americans are divided in their views of Obama, with 48 percent expressing a favorable opinion and 50 percent an unfavorable one.

When asked about Obama's ability to make good on his campaign promises to bring change to the country, 37 percent said he had changed the country for the better, while another 37 percent said the change had been for the worse. Less than a quarter of the respondents said Obama failed to change anything.

Obama, however, received favorable ratings among Democrats, with 67 percent saying he had brought positive change, compared to 63 percent of Republicans who said the country had gotten worse. The majority of Americans -- 52 percent -- also approve of Obama's handling of the economy. Plus, over half of those surveyed were expecting the economy to get better in the coming year.

According to the results of another CNN/ORC poll that were released on Monday, 52 percent disapproved of the job the president has done, while 47 percent approved, reports CNN.
