Donald Trump just took another apparent shot at his GOP presidential rival Ted Cruz's Cuban ancestry.

As reported by Business Insider, at a Tuesday-night rally in Iowa, Trump fired Cruz with some indirect, but not-so-subtle words.

"To the best of my knowledge, not too many evangelicals come out of Cuba, OK? Just remember that, OK? Just remember," he said.

As noted, the leading Republican presidential candidate made those comments while discussing his own Iowa poll numbers relative to Cruz's, and proclaimed that he has the same values as the Iowa voters.

Trump further added, "When you're casting your ballot, remember." pertaining to his alleged statement against Cruz.

But this is not the first time Trump did this, apparently, in a similar report by the Daily Mail, he broke his long-held truce with Cruz at a campaign event, which was also held in Iowa and proceeded to attack his religious beliefs and portrayed him as a beholden to big oil companies.

Speaking at the rally, the frontrunner questioned whether Cruz will be able to win the evangelical Christian voting and said, "I do like Cruz, but not a lot of evangelicals come out of Cuba."

Up until this month, Cruz evaded Trump's attacks by being civil towards him. However, he was secretly recorded questioning the billionaire candidate's judgement at a closed-door fundraiser.

Obviously, the evangelical Christian's vote is important to The Donald as they make up a significant portion of the Republican Party voters. And so far, he has been leading other candidates in gaining the group's support.

However, Cruz received the endorsement of Bob Vander Plaats, an influential conservative activist in Iowa, drawing the vote in his way.

Apart from attacking Cruz's Cuban ancestry, Trump also questioned Cruz opposition to ethanol subsidies, which are deeply popular in the state.

Trump went on to say that he thinks Cruz is a nice guy, but, "With the ethanol, really, he's got to come a long way. If Ted Cruz is against ethanol, how does he win in Iowa? Because that's very anti-Iowa."

It was noted by some pundits that the only reason Cruz is pandering to Trump is because if the leading candidate falters, he hopes that the billionaire's supporters will come to him.

Apart from that, Times of Israel reported that Cruz intends to get rid of the Grand Old Party of "crazy" neoconservatives.

He named these neoconservatives as the villains of a policy that distress Americans overseas.

Is that an apparent shot to Donald Trump?
