Samsung introduced a brand new external solid state drive (SSD) at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas Monday. The Portable SSD T3 can store up to 2 TB of files for laptops, PCs, tablets or smartphones.

The Samsung Portable SSD T3 will fit in the user's palm, Tech Radar reports. Samsung claims the drive is actually smaller than a traditional business card.

The unique thing about the extremely portable SSD is that it can act like an ultra-large microSD card for smartphones. Since most smartphones have eliminated the microSD slot, once users run out of internal storage space, they are out of luck. The Portable SSD T3 attaches to smartphones with a USB cord.

The Portable SSD T3 comes with a USB-C connector and will connect to all devices with the USB-C ports. The new MacBooks, many Android tablets and some smartphones have USB-C ports. For devices that do not have USB-C ports, there is a USB-C to USB-A cable included that will ensure the device is compatible with the Portable SSD T3.

The Portable SSD T3 is extremely light (under two ounces) and durable. It can withstand drops, up to 1,500 grams of force and extreme temperatures.

Samsung's upcoming smartphone, the Galaxy S7 might include a USB-C port, which would make it instantly compatible with the Portable SSD T3. If the Galaxy S7 is compatible with the Portable SSD T3, it would not need a microSD slot.

The Portable SSD T3 is available in 250 GB, 500 GB and 1 TB versions as well. For computer and smartphone users with tons of files, music, movies and more, the 2 TB version is the largest solid state drive solution available from Samsung.

Samsung says the Portable SSD T3 will be available in March. Pricing will be available once the drive is ready for release.
