Vice President Joe Biden is expanding his social media profile.

The 71-year-old joined Instagram under the name "VP" and his first photo was of himself reading papers at his desk with Ray-Ban sunglasses in the forefront.

"Vice President Biden's getting ready to head to Pennsylvania with President Obama this afternoon, where he'll lay out steps we can take to train America's workers with the skills they need for good middle-class jobs," the caption to the photo read as it was posted on Wednesday.

Despite the fact that it was his first ever photo on Instagram, the one that garnered more attention was a selfie he took with President Obama. He signed the selfie with his initials, proving that he actually took it and posted it instead of having one of his staffers do it.

"Found a friend to join my first selfie on Instagram," he wrote. "Thanks for following and stay tuned. -VP"

The Vice President already has over 63,000 followers.

In other, more serious news, Biden's name has continued to float around as a potential candidate for the 2016 Presidential election. When asked about Biden's chances, President Obama has not wanted to officially endorse anyone in particular but had positive things.

"I've got somebody who I think will go down as one of the finest vice presidents in history, and he has been ... a great partner in everything that I do. I suspect that there may be other potential candidates for 2016 who have been great friends and allies," he said, according to CBS. "I know that we've got an extraordinary secretary of state who did great service for us and worked with me and Joe to help make the country safer."
