Over the past years, high-end DSLRs and outdoor-oriented cameras have dominated the market. However, Canon recently unveiled a new line of PowerShot cameras at this year's CES to revive the buried point-and-shoot line.

According to PC Mag, despite the apparent reduced prominence of point-and-shoot cameras, Canon revealed five new PowerShot cameras this year and all are positioned at the lower end of the price spectrum.

For starters, the Elph 180 is the company's newest budget camera, which is priced at just $119.99.

But don't let the price tag fool you. The Elph features a 20-megapixel CCD image sensor, an 8x zoom lens that covers a 28 to 224mm field of view and a purely digital image stabilization system.

It can also shoot videos at 720p at a fixed 25 frames per second rate. The only downside is it does not have new features like Wi-Fi, but at least it comes in multiple colors to choose from. All in all, the Canon PowerShot Elph 180 is the perfect camera for those who want clear and crisp photos, but doesn't want to break the bank.

Consumers looking to spend a little bit more can turn their heads to the Elph 190 IS. Its features are similar to the Elph 180, but has a wider and longer 10x optical zoom and includes a built in Wi-Fi -- it costs $159.99

The Canon PowerShot Elph 360 HS however, offers a wide range of features that justify the $209.99 price tag. Despite featuring the same 20-megapixel sensor, it can shoot at a higher ISO sensitivity that benefits low-light shooting. It supports 1080p video at up to 30 frames per second and the rear LCD is also a bit larger and clearer.

Obviously the strongest in the PowerShot line is the Canon SX540 HS. According to CNET, It features 20-megapixel, but has a more powerful Digic 6 processor that can record full high definition videos at 60 frames per second. However, it comes with a rather hefty price tag of $400.

However, there is also the Canon PowerSHot SX420 IS. A "prosumer" point-and-shoot camera that features a 42 x 24-1008 mm zoom lens and basically offers the features of the SX740 HS -- for less. The SX420 IS clocks in at a price of $300.

Furthermore, Engadget noted that Canon also released a new camcorder called the Vixia HF G40. The video shooter is said to target amateur film makers as it sports a wide-angle 20x HD Optical Zoom Lens, an HD CMOS PRO Image Censor and a 3.5-inch OLED tilting touchscreen.

The Vixia can shoot 1080p video, which supports up to 60 frames per second and dual SD card slots. This latest camcorder from Canon costs a whopping $1,300.

The SX540 will be available in March and the Elph and Vixia in February.
