Andre Johnson, a rapper with connections to the hip hop supergroup Wu-Tang Clan, attempted suicide Wednesday morning when he severed his own penis before jumping off a balcony.

Reports say that Johnson dismembered himself and leapt from the second floor of his apartment building in North Hollywood. Johnson was seriously injured by the fall and had to be rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical where he is now being treated. He is in stable condition.

It is unknown what caused Johnson's behavior at this time. Many suspected drugs to be involved, but TMZ reports that several of Johnson's associates (who were allegedly at the scene) claim that drugs were not involved. They believe Johnson may have severe mental issues.

Johnson, who also goes by the rap name Christ Bearer, is a member of the Long Beach, Calif. rap group Northstar, founded by producer and Wu Tang hip hop veteran RZA. Some of his work includes "When The Guns Come Out" from the soundtrack of 2004 Wesley Snipes film Blade: Trinity.

Just yesterday, Johnson put out a new song with fellow rapper Rugged Monk titled "Oooh!" You can check out the video below. He also has an album scheduled for release on April 28, his 41st birthday.

Despite his connections and collaborations with Wu-Tang Clan, Raw Story reports that the group has released a statement denying ties with Johnson.

"Parental Advisory : Don't Believe The HYPE. This Mother F*cker Ain't Got Sh*t to do with The WUTANG Brand," said the statement.
