Scandal star Columbus Short is currently involved in a scandal so big that even Olivia Pope might not be able to fix it.

Lately, Short has been topping headlines for all the wrong reasons. His tumultuous relationship with wife Tuere Tanee McCall continues to overshadow his acting and depicts him as a domestic abuser. Given his slew of violent outbursts and arrests, enraged Scandal fans have gone as far as campaigning to have the 31-year-old actor fired. Yikes.

So what's got Columbus Short in hot water now?

Well, on April 15, Short's wife filed a restraining order against him that claims Short choked her, put a knife to her throat, and threatened to kill her and himself.

The restraining order, obtained by TMZ, states that the incident occurred on April 7 and Short was intoxicated at the time.

It further claims that Columbus ran to the kitchen for a knife, pinned McCall to the couch and began choking her. Short then demanded they play a game he called "Truth or Truth." He allegedly said if she lied he would stab her in the leg. While McCall tried to escape, Short slashed her tires.

In addition to the restraining order, McCall filed for divorce on Tuesday citing irreconcilable differences and asking for sole custody of their two-year-old daughter, Ayala.

As of now, Short has been forced out of the house that he shares wit McCall and TMZ reports that the police were present to ensure safety as Short left the home.

Amidst the drama, Short released an official statement on Thursday about his latest incident.

"As you all know, lately my personal life has been subjected to a lot of press. As much as I would like to provide my side of events, my counsel has instructed me that a Court of law is the only and proper venue to deal with such matters. Accordingly, I must refrain from making any comments even though that is very difficult for me under the circumstances. Thank you to my fans for your continued support during this difficult time."

It might just be a little too late to defend your side Columbus, domestic violence is no joke and according to the Huffington Post, this isn't the first time this has happened.

HuffPost states that Short was previously arrested following an altercation in front of their daughter and his son back in February. He was charged with spousal battery and pleaded not guilty.

But wait, there's more.

Last month, Short was arrested yet again for his alleged involvement in a bar fight in Los Angeles that left one man hospitalized. In 2010, he was accused of breaking a man's jaw during a basketball pick-up game.
