When it comes to film genres, director Quentin Tarantino's works has run the gamut. But there is one in particular that he has never quite tackled as a standalone piece: horror.

According to Time Out, as reported by NME, the "Hateful Eight" director has made no secret about his ambitions in Hollywood. He has recently said that he expects to retire after his tenth film, which will round out his career the way he wants it to end.

Fans of the infamous director have seen all too well that he can handle violence in both a tasteful and bloody way. His recent Westerns and the World War II epic "Inglorious Bastards" give strong evidence for how the director would handle a scary film.

But he also spoke about the upcoming project as a way to finalize his mark on the genre.

"There is not a genre left where I have the same burning desire that I had to do a WWII movie or a martial-arts movie," Tarantino said.

Although he did say that he was not that interested in making straight genre movies for his last two films, he did say he wanted to tackle something scary.

"If I had all the time in the world, I would love to make a really, really scary horror film, like 'The Exorcist,'" Tarantino said.

There are many ways that he can tackle a project like that. With a mind like his, the sky is the limit for what specific subgenre he could choose within the horror spectrum.

But fans should not expect a film like this to come any time soon. As most already know, he takes his time with his films. He does not like to release anything that is not the very best it can be.

"It usually takes me about three years to make a movie anyway, so you're talking about almost a decade left," Tarantino said. "I don't want to be the guy that's doing this forever. There should be an end."
