This year might have been the commemoration of VR gaming until the popular Oculus Rift revealed its price that somewhat poured cold water to those who have been faithfully waiting for it.

According to Attack of the Fan Boy, numerous rumors online reveal that the VR Oculus Rift will have a price range of $300 to $400 until it was revealed. Apparently, these rumors failed to go near the targeted price when it was officially announced that the VR device will cost $599. But who could blame the VR fans for suggesting and hoping the price will be fair, after all, Oculus founder Palmer Luckey suggested it himself. In his interview with Road to VR, he said, "We're roughly in that ballpark, but it's going to cost more than that."

Luckey suggested that because they have added some new technology to the VR, the cost might be higher than what's been rumored. Fans, however, did not expect the price to go higher than the $400 range. The $599 price is also said to be on the low end of what gamers are paying for the Oculus Rift, and given that it doesn't have a free shipping, the device that will shed you more than $600 at the very least. In the U.K., fans are expected to shed at least $800 for the device, excluding the shipment fee.

Luckey, in his interview with Road to VR, also demonstrated how the Oculus Rift came up with that amount saying, "The rift is a lot of custom hardware. It's using lenses that are some of the hardest to manufacture lenses in any consumer product you can go out and buy."

He also revealed that the Oculus Rift is equipped with a custom display that has been specially designed for VR. The developer also sought the help of Samsung in order to get the maximum specs possible for the device.

That being said, Luckey is pretty confident that the Oculus Rift's price will take on the best experience when it comes to VR gaming. He also thinks that eventually, multiple kinds of VR will appear carrying different specs that deliver all types of quality issues. With Oculus Rift, they only want what's best and try to deliver something that no developer has ever made and that's to deliver a quality headset to their fans.

Have you tried the Oculus Rift? What do you think of its price?
