This week's crop of PlayStation 4 games offers a unique blend of action, adventure and story-telling with the release of "Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India," "'The Banner Saga" and "Gone Home."

As per the official PlayStation blog site, joining the trio of highly-anticipated titles are the following:

  •  "Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits"
  •  "Arslan: The Warriors of Legend (Demo)"
  •  "Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India"
  •  "The Banner Saga"
  •  Dogchild PS4
  •  Gone Home: Console Edition
  •  Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 (Beta)
  •  Tharsis

All aforementioned games will only be available digitally via the PlayStation Store starting this week. "Dogchild" will be released first on Monday, while the beta version of "Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2" will be launched on Thursday.

"Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India" thrust players into the conflict between the Sikh Empire and the East India Company in 1841. They take on the role of Arbaaz Mir, a Kashmiri member of the Indian Brotherhood of Assassins, who embarks on a mission to retrieve an enigmatic item from a Master Templar.

The "Assassin's Creed Chronicles" saga brings the thrill of the popular open-world video game series into 2.5D, complete with standalone side-scroller gameplay. Players journey to distinct civilizations and time periods in each episode. Hardcore "Assassin's Creed" fans who have played all episodes will know that all three titles tie in perfectly with the main games, IGN reported.

"The Banner Saga" is an epic role-playing adventure game which draws inspiration from the Viking lore. The game's hand-painted landscapes depict a cold world filled with gloom and suspense. Heroes leave the comforts of their homes to cross the snowy countryside, gaining friends along the way to help battle a mysterious threat.

Kevin VanOrd of GameSpot said the game has an intriguing approach to both strategy and storytelling. Days are spent by hiking and searching for supplies. When players start running out of supplies, they will start losing clansmen and warriors due to famine. A valuable resources known as Renown helps players acquire more supplies in each town they visit. It is also used to promote their heroes.

"The Banner Saga" was released in early 2014 on PC, iOS and Android.

For a purely story-based experience, PS4 gamers can pick up "Gone Home." The interactive adventure game is set in the year 1995.

Players arrive home after a year overseas. They expect family and friends to greet them, but the house is empty. "Gone Home" thrives on intrigue, exploration and investigation. Players must examine every detail of a seemingly normal house to know what happened to the people who live in it.
