The geeky gang will have to brace themselves for a sick Sheldon who is suddenly compelled to apologize to each of them in Thursday's all-new episode of "The Big Bang Theory."

A preview video of the upcoming episode, which is entitled "The Empathy Optimization," shows Sheldon (Jim Parsons) reciting scripted apologies to his friends, even at very awkward times.

"Can this wait?" asks Penny (Kaley Cuoco) after it appears Sheldon bust in on her to apologize while she is still in the shower.

"I'm afraid it can't. I have more apologies to make," he says.

Sheldon even goes as far as to Bernadette give (Melissa Rauch) and Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) custom made T-shirts that say "Sheldon Cooper Apologized To Me."

By the end of the promo, all of the friends seem to be sick of hearing Sheldon apologize.

The synopsis also teases that Sheldon will come down with some type of illness that will prompt Penny and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) to spend time together without their pesky roommate.

"After having to deal with a sick Sheldon, Leonard, Penny and the gang try to treat themselves to a Sheldon-free weekend," it reads, states SpoilerTV.

According to The Hollywood Hills, the gang will decide to spend the weekend partying in Los Vegas while Sheldon learns a tough lesson about being empathetic towards others and saying sorry.

Fans can also look forward to finally meeting the brilliant scientist's grandmother for the first time later on this season. Entertainment Weekly reports that Academy Award nominee June Squibb has been tapped to play Sheldon's highly mentioned Meemaw. Although he has referenced over the course of the entire series, she has never appeared on the show.

Season 9, Episode 12, "The Empathy Optimization," will premiere Thursday, Jan. 14 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
