The 2014 New York International Auto Show was a showcase of technology including some unusual specimens like a flying car. However, the highlight of the show was mostly based on infotainment services and driver assistance provided by a wide variety of computers inside the latest cars. Below are some of the best cars featured in this event.

The 2015 UVO Kia Sedona has a superb telematics/infotainment system with "self-explaining" features like speed alert, geo-fencing, driver score and curfew alert. Other features include big and well-lettered dashboard buttons, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, surround view monitor, a smart tailgate that opens up when you walk up with the key, slide-n-stow second row seats and middle row lounge seats that offer more leg space. The UVO eServices can get iHeart Radio, Pandora, Siri Eyes Free, and Google Local Search from iTunes and Google Play stores.

The restructured Nissan Rogue 2014 features a Smart Rear View Mirror where the view is shown on a full width LCD screen of 4:1 aspect ratio within the rear mirror. You can flick a switch on the back side if you do not like the view to get your old glass mirror. The 2014 Nissan Rogue is an archetype for the new Nissans and the low-mounted backup camera may be matched with a rear-facing side camera.

The new Hyundai Sonata is focused on roominess; it features a trunk that opens up when you walk up to it and lets you enjoy the Apple experience on your LCD screen (texting or spoken messages, music and navigation). A 4-cylinder engine with one turbocharger, the Hyundai Sonata is equipped with a stop-and-go adaptive cruise control and big back seats with an option to have integrated sunshades.

The Ford Focus is still a compact sedan that emphasizes efficiency, fitted with a 1-liter, 3-cylinder Ecoboost turbocharged engine. A 2015 Ford Focus Electric car was also showcased. By adding the SE Sport Package you get more distinctly-tuned suspension, paddle shifters and a dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Lane keep assist, blind spot detection, rear view camera are all options to load in Fords. The standard features are a back view camera, 4.2-inch LCD and Ford MyKey. MyKey restricts teen drivers with regards to the use of speed, radio volume and others when driving without their parents.

The Subaru Outback was restructured to make it look sleeker. Its 4- and 6-cylinder engines were augmented and are not so fuel efficient this time around. It features a back camera and color display with slimmer A-pillars at the car's front for optimized vision without sacrificing safety. It also has a dual camera system with adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking and lane departure warning.

The show will run at the Jacob Javits Center from April 18-27.
