Earlier this week, famed composer Hans Zimmer revealed that he will return to score Zack Snyder's upcoming Man of Steel sequel, Variety reported.

Currently, Zimmer is working with long-time collaborator and legendary filmmaker Christopher Nolan on the score for Interstellar, Nolan's next sci-fi adventure due out this December.

In an interview with Digital Spy, the composer, who recently scored the Oscar winner 12 Years A Slave and the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man 2, will begin working on the tentatively titled Batman Vs. Superman epic after wrapping up on Interstellar.

"We've already had a couple of chats, and once I finish the movie that I shall not talk about, I will probably head over to where Zack is shooting his movie and just hang out a bit and see if we can come up with any ideas," Zimmer said.

Zimmer, however, said the problem with scoring the next Superman flick is coming up with an original piece for Ben Affleck's version of Batman, after having spent nine years scoring Nolan and Christian Bale's Batman for the Dark Knight trilogy.

"That's my problem, that's my dilemma," he said. "I don't want to betray, if that's the right word, the 'Dark Knight' movies. That was Christian, it was Christian's role. It's not just that it was nine years of our lives so you want to stay honest and honorable to that period. So it's really about, 'Is there something else I can find that I haven't tapped into?' Which I don't know until I sit down with Zack."

Snyder's superhero epic is slated for a May 6, 2016 release and will feature DC Comic's most famous trio -- Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman -- face off against each other and Lex Luthor. The film stars Henry Cavill and Affleck as the title roles, along with Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.
