The Galveston Mardi Gras!, one of the most awaited traditions in Texas, will return to the island this February. This year's 105th celebration of Galveston's Mardi Gras! will take place January 29-February 9 with dazzling dancers, high-stepping marching bands and flashy floats. The celebration will also feature 22 parades, almost three million beads and other trinkets to throngs that will surely give every visitor a big all-consuming experience once again.

Get ready those bead-catching hands. Here is the parade schedule this January:

January 29, Friday

The celebration will begin with the George P. Mitchell Mardi Gras! Award Presentation at 5:30 p.m. in front of The Tremont House in Mechanic, Galveston, TX. It will be followed by a cocktail reception and a George P. Mitchell Mardi Gras! Parade. The Parade Honoring Douglas Matthews will start at 7:00 from the Tremont House through the Historic Strand District. By 8pm, Funky Uptown Umbrella Brigade Parade will start offering everyone a chance to enjoy the night with a little dance and lots of fun. The excitement will continue as Krewe da Yaga starts their parade and requires everyone to be in their board shorts and flip flops by 10 p.m.

January 30, Saturday

The activities will start at 11 a.m. with the grand opening of The Official Mardi Gras! Galveston 5k. The event will offer everyone a chance to enjoy an intense run or leisurely crawl through the streets of Strand District. It will be followed by the 30th annual Aquarius Seawall parade at 12 n.n. with routes starting from the Seawall down to The Strand District. 15 marching bands will join the event as it celebrates the theme "Mythology" this year. By 1 p.m., the world record-breaking Golf Cart Parade, will showcase a different but interactive phase of the tradition to the visitors. Krewes of D'IHeart Media and King Gabrinus will also set the streets of Strand District on fire. As they continue to keep the night alive with 12 lighted floats and marching bands.

January 31, Sunday

The schedule for this day's activities will start at 1pm with the festive floats from Sunshine Kids in downtown Galveston. Visitors can access this parade for free though the organization's focus is to provide activities for people who are battling cancer most especially children. The Family Gras will resume at 3pm with Shriners Hospital for Children-Galveston Parade. There will be lots of Shriners Clowns, floats, and mini-cars that everyone, even those who are young-at-hearts will sure to enjoy.
