"El Voto Hispano," a documentary exploring the affects of the Latino community on United States' elections that hopes to debut in 2015, has recruited Eva Longoria as a producer.

"I have decided to join the @elvotohispano team as Producer. Come, let's make history together! Pledge Now," Longoria announced via Twitter yesterday.

Longoria is a perfect addition to the team as she has both the fame and know -how to garner interest and quality. Her fame, of course, comes from sultry roles in mainstream hits like "Desperate Housewives." Her producing experience includes Lifetime's "Devious Maids" and documentaries like "The Harvest" and "Food Chains." Plus, the star is vocal about politics; in 2012, she was one of President Barack Obama's biggest fundraisers, according to Forbes.

The question now is whether Longoria's name will help "El Voto Hispano" become a reality.

The documentary currently has four days left in its Kickstarter project. As of today, over $60,000 has been raised out of its $158,000 goal. The investigative documentary has a limited time to get the funds it needs to share a story that people like Longoria find worthwhile.

"Directed by Gianpaolo Pietri, the story follows one voter, one correspondent, and interviews a wide range of prominent politicians as they weave their way through the tapestry of American politics during the 2014 Midterm election cycle defining for themselves who they are, what they believe in, what it means to be Hispanic in this new American paradigm, and what role do they play in the future of their country," Pietri explains via the Kickstarter page.

Longoria isn't the only noteworthy name hoping to get "El Voto Hispano" off the ground. Amaury Nolasco ("Prison Break," "Transformers") will executive produce. Adamari López ("Un Nuevo Día") and Democratic National Committee member Andrés W. López are also supporters of the project.

So why does a film with such high-profile support need a fundraiser? It's director hopes to maintain its integrity.

"We look to Kickstarter and all of you for help in funding the project in order to protect against the commercialization of the film and ensure a balanced and objective approach to our investigation," Pietro writes. "In that spirit, 'El Voto Hispano' is a non-partisan effort to create awarenes ... among Hispanic voters of the importance to exercise their right to participate in the electoral process with their vote."

As "El Voto Hispano" points out, the Latino community represented 9 percent and 10 percent of presidential votes in 2008 and 2012 respectively. Time will reveal whether this same passion will be seen in efforts to fund the film.
