A new café is opening in Manhattan but the theme isn't coffee. Rather, it's all about cats.

Purina One sponsors the new cat café, which is said to be the first one of its kind in the United States. Customers will have the opportunity to go to the café and enjoy themselves the same way they would anywhere else -- except cats would be roaming around. The café will be opening on Thursday at 168 Bowery between Kenmare and Broome and will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is only a pop-up café and is apparently only going to be open from Thursday to Sunday. We can expect it to start up again and flourish if the demand for the café is as high as it seems to be in other countries.

The cafes apparently have apparently become a huge hit in select countries such as Japan. Most recently, a cat café opened in London and so far customers have already flocked to it so much that it is booked through June.

The cats at the new café are coming from the North Shore Animal League and they are up for adoption. The goal seems to be to have customers interact with the cats until they can no longer resist the urge to make an adoption.

"We hope our cat cafe is one small step toward a greater focus on cat health," Purina brand manager Brian Williams said. "Our goal for the Cat Cafe is to create a rich, interactive environment that empowers cat owners to learn more about their cat's health and nutritional needs."

What do you think about the idea of a cat café? Will it be successful and end up expanding into more cities around the United States or do you think it will struggle? Which cities would you like to see the cat café expanding to? Feel free to let us know what you think in the comments section located down below.

Correction: an earlier version of this article listed an incorrect address. The café is located at 168 Bowery between Kenmare and Broome.
