The late Selena Quintanilla's widower Chris Perez recently announced that he will be performing with Jennifer Lopez in Las Vegas.

"Just getting home from today's KXTN Morning Takeover Show. Had to pull out the O.G. guitar from back in the day.]," he said via Facebook on Monday. "Used it on the whole 'éntre A Mi Mundo' Selena c.d. Also, we started planning for this year's Fiesta De La Flor...it's gonna be a good one. wink emoticon Now, to get ready for J. Lo's residency in Vegas this Friday."

This bit of update may likely excite those who applauded J.Lo's Selena tribute at last year's Billboard Latin Music Awards, where she performed a medley of the late singer's hits, such as "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom," "Como la Flor," "No Me Queda Mas" and "I Could Fall in Love," as per Billboard.

The performance also included the original Los Dinos band, which included Selena's sister Suzette Wuintanilla-Arriaga, brother A.B. Quintanilla, and husband Perez. According to Latin Times, there are speculations over whether the band will make an appearance during Lopez's Las Vegas shows.

Lopez's residency will begin Wednesday, when her first show will be unveiled to the public. She did a private, preview performance on Monday, the photos of which surfaced on a number of sites online. It will run through February 9 and will return on May 22, according to MailOnline.

If Perez's Facebook announcement is indeed legitimate, it appears he will be joining Lopez on stage on Friday.

However, on Tuesday evening this week Perez appeared to backtrack on his statement in a response he gave to a comment on his latest Facebook post.

When asked whether he will be joining Lopez in a show, he replied, "Don't think so. I got word last week that I was invited to attend her first show."

One way to know whether Perez will indeed appear in J.Lo's shows is to wait until Friday night comes and goes. Perez, however, had not corrected or taken down his post about Friday's gig.

The potential guest appearance of Perez may be spurred by his guest performance in Lopez's Selena tribute at the 2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards, which also was reminiscent of Lopez's portrayal of the Latina singer in the 1997 film "Selena." Her performance had earned her acting nominations and awards.

The late artist died on March 31, 1995, after being shot by the president of her fan club, Yolanda Saldivar. She continues to be remembered by her fans decades after her death, partly due to her husband and siblings' continued public appearances.
