Chivalry is dead.

This may not entirely be true, but women sure expect less from men nowadays when it comes to dating.

If there are more gentlemen in the world though, then there wouldn't be lists of what women expect from men during dates, or what women "really want" from men.

In any case, this list from We Are Mitu of our parents' dating standards that aren't happening anymore spell doom for chivalry. In fact, they actually comprise everything that women expect during dates that rarely happens in real life.

Below are the top 10 dating expectations that are rare or are just nonexistent in our generation - from before the date until after the date ends.

Dating Expectation 1: The guy should ask the girl out.

Gone were the days when women simply waited for the men to approach them and ask them out on a date. With women empowerment and equality movements, girls are running the world (so to speak).

Nowadays, it's the men and the women who do the asking out, and there's no more beating around the bush, too. A yes or no answer would suffice. No hard feelings if the answer is no.

Dating Expectation 2: Men should plan ahead.

Girls...not happening. While some guys are just plain busy, some just totally don't make the effort. Some men occasionally plan dates though, and you're considered lucky if your man is that creative.

Proposals are exceptions. Some guys have gotten quite competitive with this.

Dating Expectation 3: The guy should pick the girl up from her home.

Not all men have rides, but it's very rare that guys would even go to their dates' houses to pick them up. Usually, dates begin at the location of the activity - movie house, restaurant, etc.

Dating Expectation 4: The man should pick up the woman from the door.

In relation to expectation 3, some men don't even do pickups at home anymore. It's also rare that they'd escort you from the door of your house.

Dating Expectation 5: The guy should bring a romantic token.

Back in the day of our grandparents and great grandparents, men used to give flowers to women. Not anymore. This could happen on special occasions though, like Valentine's Day.

Dating Expectation 6: Men should open car doors.

This is a nice thought, and it remains that - a thought.

Dating Expectation 7: Guys should walk on the danger side of the street.

Nowadays, it would be surprising if guys walk beside women. This happens at times though - sometimes in movies, and if you're lucky, in real life.

Dating Expectation 8: Your date should pull out the chair for you.

This usually never happens. If it does, then your date is a real gentleman.

Dating Expectation 9: Guys should handle expenses during dates.

In some traditional countries, this still happens, but not all the time.

Dating Expectation 10: The date shouldn't end with sex.

This is the ideal get-to-know-you dating phase expectation. In reality though, everybody just wants to get some. Tip: If you're on Tinder, check his profile if that's what he wants. Better yet, ask him bluntly.

Expectation would just lead to disappointment. Better not expect anything at all and just be surprised if your date makes an effort.
