Simon Cowell's effort to find a Latino One Direction via "La Banda" had been successful as five new male talents -- Richard Camacho, Christopher Velez, Erick Brian Colon, Joel Pimentel, and Zabdiel De Jesus -- have been found worthy to be formed into a band, now called CNCO. The newly-formed group has already inked a record deal with Sony Music and will be slated to tour Latin America.

And now, a second season of the TV reality series has been set in motion, with open calls for auditions recently announced. Those who are at least 14 years old and above may join the auditions.

As per Latin Times, the first of the scheduled auditions will happen in Puerto Rico on January 30. The next one will be at Houston, Texas on February 6.

The third auditions will be in Miami on February 13, while the fourth one will be at Chicago on February 20.

Then, on February 27, the auditions will be moved to New York, while Los Angeles will host the auditions on March 5.

"La Banda 2" had already been scheduled even before the first season began, according to Billboard. That's because the second season would focus on finding the next Latin girl band sensation.

Cowell's SYCO Entertainment struck a collaboration with Univision, Saban Brands and FremantleMedia Latin America to make "La Banda 2" happen. It's expected that the first season's judges, Ricky Martin, Laura Pausini and Alejandro Sanz, will return to reprise their roles on the show.

"I am absolutely delighted to be announcing season 2 of La Banda," Cowell said through a statement. "The enthusiasm for this format is already very exciting and most importantly we are seeing some incredibly promising talent."

"La Banda 2" will follow the same format of the one used in the previous season, which is whittling down the pool of contestants until the final five remains.

Through "La Banda," Cowell apparently has gone beyond the borders of the U.K. and the U.S. in looking for the next big thing in pop music, recognizing the presence of a "gold mine" in the Latin American music industry.

"'La Banda' will tap into Hispanic America's passion for music unlike any other program on television and will bring millions of fans the next international musical sensation," said Univision Communications Inc. president of Programming and Content Alberto Ciurana of the first show, as per MailOnline.
