Jeb Bush's presidential campaign released a new ad on Friday, featuring Barbara Bush endorsing her son and taking a soft jab at GOP front-runner Donald Trump.

In the video, titled "A Message From Barbara Bush," the 90-year-old former first lady praises Jeb as "a very good father, a wonderful son, a hard worker."

"His heart is big," she says in the 30-second spot, which shows the former Florida governor with members of his family, students and communicating with people on the campaign trail.

Later in the video the Bush family matriarch makes a subtle dig at Trump.

"When push comes to shove, people are going to realize Jeb has real solutions, rather than talking about how popular they are, how great they are," she says referring to the billionaire businessman. "He's doing it because he sees a huge need, and it's not being filled by anybody."

Barbara Bush also released a handwritten letter asking people to support her second-eldest son's presidential run and admitting to not always being supportive of his bid, herself.

"People ask me if I wanted Jeb to run. The answer was no as the sacrifice for his family was huge," she writes. "I changed my mind as it became clear he is needed. I admit to being prejudiced as I am his mother."

Back in 2013, the elder Bush told NBC's "Today" that the country has "had enough Bushes" in office, reports CNN. The Bush matriarch then offered her support last February.

The new video and a hand-written letter marks Barbara Bush's first public appearance on behalf of Jeb's campaign. Other than that, she remained supportive by sending out fundraising letters, appearing at donor retreats and attending Jeb Bush's announcement speech last summer.
