Two people were taken into custody at a U.S. Naval base in San Diego that went into lockdown on Thursday after officials received a report about a person with a gun.

NBC San Diego reports that navy officials are investigating the report of a possibly armed man on the Naval Base Point Loma, one of the three main bases in San Diego. A portion of the base has been ordered to "shelter in place" as naval security forces and Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) investigate the claim, although there were no reports of shots or injuries.

Around 3:30 pm Thursday, Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) tweeted that "Two suspects in custody at Naval Base Point Loma. Officials say no shots fired."

According to Navy spokesman Lieutenant Benjamin Addison, the incident began when authorities received a report of an individual with a gun at 10:37 a.m (local time.) Officials also said that the field agent's first call from base to local headquarters notifying them that an investigation was underway occurred at 10:55 a.m.

A post on the Naval Base San Diego Facebook page warned "all hands" to stay away from Naval Base Point Loma due to a "law enforcement incident," reports Reuters.

San Diego police said added that their Emergency Negotiations Team -- which consists of police, FBI agents and NCIS officials -- was requested for assistance on the base. Plus, authorities also set up a perimeter in the vicinity of one of the buildings on base.

The commands based at the facility, which is located at the end of Rosecrans Street, include Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) and seven submarines.
