Singer Charlie Puth is aiming to do better by teaming up with Selena Gomez in the song, “We Don’t Talk Anymore.” So far, the single has been getting positive reviews from fans and critics.

TIME reported that when Puth collaborated with Meghan Trainor in “Marvin Gaye,” the song was included in the list of worst songs of 2015.

Puth’s new album, “Nine Track Mind,” is slated to be launched on Jan. 29, 2016. He worked with Gomez on “We Don’t Talk Anymore,” resulting in better reception among people.

According to Vulture, both Puth and Gomez have been teasing the new single on Instagram in the past few weeks. The song delved on the effects of a failed relationship and was particularly focused on couples who communicate via social media. Some of the lyrics mentioned how one may be wondering whether the other would suddenly turn up at his door, as well as should have to know that the other’s love was just a game. Overall, the song has the potential of becoming a hit.

The “See You Again” singer provided a preview of the song on Instagram while Gomez shared with Billboard that the duet was a result of their quick chemistry.

“I just met him a few months ago and we hit it off and we’re having so much fun. [Charlie] pulls out the best in me. It’s really great. He’s super talented and it was fun. It just kind of happened organically, to be honest,” Gomez said on the red carpet at Billboard’s Women in Music ceremony on Dec. 11, 2015 in New York City.

EOnline wrote that the track can be the ultimate breakup song, featuring smart lyrics and an infectious beat. The song may also remind fans of “Friends” stars Ross (David Schwimmer) and Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), particularly a scene where the former onscreen lovers were in a rather hostile situation.

Puth shared a photo of the popular scene, together with the lyrics of his new song. Fans of “Friends” may even appreciate the idea that the song would have helped the couple fix things if it were playing at that time.

Lately, Puth has been having a lot of success. He was nominated for three Grammy awards and will go on tour throughout the spring, as his new album will be released soon. Puth will also be with iHeartRadio for an album launch party in New York City.
