Being Hitler isn't so bad, at least according to an Ecuadorian man named Giovanni Hitler Cando.

The world bore witness to a number of strange names and it seems, Giovanni may ring right up there with the big leagues.

In a light hearted article by Remezcla, an Ecuadorian man who lives in a small town of 4,000 people called Huigra, actually has "Hitler" as his middle name.

According to Giovanni, the police were surprised when he visited his mother-in-law in Germany. He said, "I was in Germany visiting my mother in law, who's an Ecuadorian who lives in Bonn."

Giovanni added, "On that occasion, police looked for a translator who asked me questions about my name. I replied by asking what fault it is that my name is Hitler. They also asked me if I knew who Hitler was. Like I wouldn't know that."

Unfortunately, Giovanni never learned why he was named as such. His father, the one responsible for naming him, botched his family when he was just two years old.

In fact, he's not the only one in the family named after a famous historical figure. His brother, named Lenin Helen, is named after the famous Russian communist revolutionary.

But he does have a theory why he and his brother were named as such. According to Verne, Giovanni thought that his father named them because he might find it funny when a person named "Hitler" and "Lenin" are both on the same table.

For Giovanni, he just takes his apparent fame in stride. He said that he does not consider his name to be very important and has mostly lived a normal life. He added that he just enjoyed seeing people trying to keep a straight face as they learn his real name.

Giovanni said, "The other day I went to buy a metro pass, and once again, I saw that hidden astonishment, the desire to want to run to his co-workers and tell them what he just witnessed."

When asked whether he encountered discrimination because of his name, he noted that he does not, but said that he received more discrimination to the fact that he's an immigrant living in Spain, rather than his name.

Apparently, Hitler and Ecuador have been associated during the last couple of years. Last year in April, Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa tweeted "Heil Hitler" when a political foe tweeted against his regime.

Guillermo Coches, the one responsible for the tweet, posted a video of former Ecuadorian president Osvaldo Hurtado calling Correa's regime as "fascist."

But if Coches and Hurtado saw Correa as fascist, it might have been more appropriate to tweet a picture of Benito Mussolini -- Italy's fascist dictator.
