Diggle (David Ramsey) will face off with a former wartime enemy and member of Shadowspire, while Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) will struggle to adjust to living with paralysis in Wednesday's all-new episode of "Arrow."

The synopsis for the upcoming episode, titled "A.W.O.L.," reveals that Diggle will step up to lead Team Arrow, while facing the challenge of trusting his brother and confronting a foe from his past.

"Diggle must learn to trust his brother Andy (guest star Eugene Byrd) when an enemy of their wartime past, an agent of the criminal organization Shadowspire, pays a visit to Star City. However, Diggle learns more than he bargained for about their shared time at war. Meanwhile, Oliver (Stephen Amell) has to learn a whole new way of life," states the synopsis, according to ComicBookMovie.

In the meantime, a sneak peek shows that Felicity will have a hard time adjusting to the realities of being paralyzed. Her life-altering injury occurred when she was shot in an ambush carried out by Damien Darhk's (Neal McDonough) ghosts during the winter finale.

In the preview video, the computer geek hears a voice that taunts her about being paralyzed after she takes prescription medication. She then realizes that the voice is coming from the Gothic Felicity of her past.

Viewers first learned about Felicity's past as a Goth during an episode from Season 3, in which she shed light on her background and the origin of her hacking skills. As for whether or not the Goth Felicity is a product of her imagination or a real villain has yet to be seen.

"The wheelchair is the beginning of Felicity's story this year, not the end of it," executive producer Marc Guggenheim told Entertainment Weekly.

He added that Felicity's tragic battle will highlight how strong she has become over the last year.

"Last year, there would've been a lot of sobbing and crying," Guggenheim continued. "This year, you'll see that, in many ways, Felicity comes into her own in a much greater way than she would have had she not faced this adversity. Whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. You're really going to see that in the upcoming episodes with Felicity."

Actress Katie Cassidy also opened up about what's to come for Laurel Lance in the rest of the season.

"Well, the thing that I thought was so great about this year, and continue to do so, is that we see Laurel a lot stronger, and along with fighting when she goes out there as the Black Canary, we see her more polished, we see her more ... professional ... She's in training, and fighting," she told ComicBook.com.

"I feel as if she's become a lot stronger emotionally as well. I think that continues to go that direction. I feel like she's the backbone for a lot of these characters, and she tries to see the best in people, and she is a strong woman, and I love that. I think that we continue to see more of that. I think you'll see someone come along who you don't necessarily expect Laurel to embrace."

Season 4, Episode 11 of "Arrow," titled "A.W.O.L.," will air on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
