SelGo's fans were thrilled upon knowing that their favorite singer will be producing a 13-episode miniseries with her mom and Kristel Laiblin.

Selena Gomez sold the show to Netflix which is an adaptation of Jay Asher's novel "13 Reasons Why," published by Razorbill that's been one of  New York Times' best sellers over the past 8 years as per Just Jared's report.

During her interview with Variety, Gomez mentioned on why she opted to invest on "small screen" rather than hitting the theaters, "I love Netflix. I just sold a show to Netflix. I think it's incredible, the traffic they get. It's all that I watch when I'm at home. Even if it's on my laptop, if I'm traveling, it's a different way for people to see movies, and I enjoy that."

As per Hollywood Life, the miniseries revolves around the story of Hanna Barker, a teenager who took her own life. Her story would be unveiled by Clay, who was her ultimate crush and former classmate. As the story progresses, Hanna reveals the reason on why she committed suicide through the tapes that got passed along her classmates.

Selena and Mandy Teefey, her mother first came up with producing the film after reading the book. The duo then teamed up with Kristel Laiblin, a producer who bought the book to Anonymous Content for the production house to turn it into a screen adaptation. Vulture then added that the team already found an executive producer, Brian Yorkey.

During an interview with Variety, Selena shared some details on how they came across "13 Reasons Why."

Gomez told the interviewer, "She's got incredible taste in a weird, cool way. Four or five years ago, she found this book and fell in love with it. I think I was still in high school. Now we're here. We took our time with it."

Selena also talked about how supportive her mom is when it comes to her acting career, the singer also told Variety that her mom was the person behind the decision on why she did "Spring Breakers," "There's plenty of interviews where she's mortified-"Why do you tell people that?" When people ask how I came about that project, I always say it was my mom."

In addition to her ongoing film career Gomez also took on the role of a hitchhiker for a Sundance Indie film, "The Fundamentals of Caring."
