Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin is on the sidelines for another 4 to 6 weeks, no thanks to a punching incident that reportedly happened on Jan. 23.

The fracas involved Griffin and the team’s assistant equipment manager Matias Testi and a third person, which the Clippers forward referred to as “someone he cares about."

According to ESPN, the whole thing stemmed from an argument at a Toronto restaurant, which resulted in Griffin punching Testi. The altercation went all the way to the outside of the establishment where Griffin reportedly got in another shot.

Griffin eventually suffered a spiral fracture of the fourth metacarpal on his right hand from the incident, further extending his time off from playing ball. Prior to the hand injury, Griffin was nearing a return from a torn tendon on his left quadriceps, which has kept him out since late December.

Right now, Griffin is under fire for the whole mess though the All-Star forward has already issued an apology via Twitter.

But the thing is Griffin will be punished for his actions and the whole thing will not be a welcome news for the Clippers and its fans.

"His conduct has no place in our organization and this incident does not represent who we are as a team," per an issued statement by the Clippers via TMZ.

With that said, such doesn’t speak well for the Clippers, who are already having their share of struggles this season. Despite the added talent, the Clippers still find themselves underachieving. They are currently sporting a 31-16 card, which is good for the fourth spot in the Western Conference.

But the thing is, the Clippers were expected to do a whole lot better than that.

Moving forward, a possible trade involving Griffin has gone abuzz. While this suggestion could be a bit premature, it goes beyond the alleged punching incident.

While the chances of that happening aren’t exactly high, it remains an option for head coach Doc Rivers.

In a separate report from ESPN, it was detailed how keeping or moving Griffin would impact the flow of the Clippers’ machine.

The scenarios could be multiple but the thing is the Clippers may only engage in such if a player of equal or better caliber is offered on the table.

Despite the off-court issue, it is unlikely that such would be enough to force the Clippers to pull a trigger on a possible trade.

If there are any trade plans involving Griffin, the earliest that this could happen will likely be during the offseason.
