Through the years, Salma Hayek has transformed herself into one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood. However, not many people have seen her very first audition, which happened a long while before she graced the silver screen.

The Huffington Post wrote that the Latina beauty used to play the starring role in the 1989 Mexican telenovela “Teresa.” Hayek played the beautiful but controlling titular character on the hit soap opera on Televisa, a Mexican TV network. She gained much popularity in the local scene from her appearance, subsequently paving the way for her to find her niche in Hollywood.

Univision’s, “!Despierta America!” discovered Hayek’s first audition tape for Televisa almost three decades later. The footage was published on the morning show on Jan. 22, 2016, although it was already present on the internet after being spread by thousands of online users.

The video, which lasted two and a half minutes, showed a 20-year-old Hayek wearing a green blouse and black bottoms with big curly puffy hair. She was talking to the camera, indicating her name, age, school and added that she has no experience. Although she was apparently still very young and in her awkward stage, she already possessed the beautiful face and great body that will catapult her to Hollywood heights several years later.

After the brief statement of personal information, Hayek proceeded to do a monologue at an office setting. She was speaking in Spanish and showed potential in her acting skills as well, which may have compelled the casting executives to hand her the starring role.

IMDb stated that Hayek was born in Coatzacoalcos, Mexico. Her father was of Lebanese descent and her mother was of Mexican-Spanish ancestry. She decided to become an actress after watching “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” in 1971. She went to the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans, Louisiana when she was 12 years old.

She left Mexico in 1991 but it was only in 1995 when she had her big break in Hollywood after co-starring with Antonio Banderas in “Desperado.” Since then, she has starred in several movies like “Fools Rush In,” “Wild Wild West,” “Dogma,” and the Mexican feature film “No One Writes to the Colonel.” In 2002, she co-produced and starred in “Frida,” which garnered six Oscar nominations, including best actress for her. She became the first Latin actress to be nominated in the category.

More updates and details on Salma Hayek are expected soon.
