The Portland Trail Blazers and the Washington Wizards took a commanding 3-1 lead after defeating their respective opponents on Sunday.

The Trail Blazers scored a hard-earned 123-120 win in overtime in game four of their first-round playoff series against the Houston Rockets at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon.

LaMarcus Aldridge, who averaged 37.3 points in the first three games of the series, had another big night as he finished with 29 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four blocks and two steals.

Nicolas Batum also played a key role, tallying 25 points to go along with six rebounds and six assists, while Damian Lillard posted 23 points and eight assists, helping the Trail Blazers take a 3-1 lead in a playoff series for the first time since the 2000 Western Conference semifinals.

James Harden led the Rockets with 28 points on 9-for-21 shooting. Chandler Parsons added 26 points and eight rebounds, while Dwight Howard tallied 25 points and 14 rebounds for the Rockets, who will host the Trail Blazers in game five on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Wizards are also now one win away from advancing to the second round after defeating the Chicago Bulls 98-89 at the Verizon Center, taking a crucial 3-1 series advantage.

Trevor Ariza finished with a career-high 30 points and eight rebounds, shooting 6-for-10 from beyond the arc. John Wall had a double-double with 15 points and 10 assists, while Bradley Beal and Marcin Gortat added 18 and 17 points respectively.

Bulls forward Taj Gibson was almost unstoppable on Sunday night, scoring 32 points on 13-for-16 shooting from the field, but did not get much help from his teammates, who shot a combined 22-for-62 clip from the field.

With the win, the Wizards are on the verge of winning a playoff series for the third time since the 1970s. Game five will be on Tuesday at the Target Center in Chicago.

In other games on Sunday, the Golden State Warriors cruised to a 118-97 win to tie their series against the Los Angeles Clippers, while the Toronto Raptors also forced a 2-2 standoff with an 87-79 win over the Brooklyn Nets.
