Vampire attacks, sort of, are rising in the coastal city of Napier located on New Zealand's North Island with two biting cases reported last weekend. According to Stuff.co.nz, both attacks were perpetrated by women and arrests were made.

The first incident of the weekend happened last Saturday morning at the New World Supermarket Onekawa carpark in Maadi Road when the police were called to the scene. The report said that there was a brawl between three women with one being accused of biting a woman's ear. However, the cause of the fight is unknown.

"It was a fight between three females and during the fight one of the females has bitten another one's ear and drawn blood. She hasn't bitten it off, but quite badly so she needed some medical attention," a spokesman for Hawke's Bay District Command Centre said.

Later that evening, a man was bitten by another woman in the neck at a local waterfront tavern called The Thirsty Whale. Authorities reported that there was a brawl between two men, but a woman got involved and bit one of the men in the neck causing him to lose so much blood. The victim was also rushed to Hawke's Bay District Command Centre.

"The man lost so much blood he was admitted to hospital in a serious condition. She obviously got the right spot," a spokesman for the centre said. The suspected woman is reportedly the sister of the victim's enemy.

NZ Herald noted that it's not the first vampire-like attack in New Zealand as three suspects were sentenced to community detention, hours of community work and paid the victim $400 each. Xenia Gregoriana Borichevsky, James Eric Orr and James Phillip Brooks all pleaded guilty for their attack on a young victim in Wellington back in February 2010.

The Thirsty Whale owner Chris Sullivan, per Stuff.co.nz, said that the incident happened around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday. Sullivan added that he did not believe that the woman bit the victim because he did not see any teeth marks. However, he is concerned about the people that were involved in the fight because the area is known to be quiet and peaceful.

"We've never seen these people before. They're certainly not locals. It's a very nice area. We're a restaurant. We do have a dance floor on a Saturday night, but we have nice people. People having a great time, but a couple that night clearly didn't," Sullivan said.

To make this story weirder, Napier police noted that there was another violent incident between families in the same are in the same week a victim was also bitten. Officials have called the incidents weird and unusual but are considered just a coincidence.
