Selena Gomez admits her past troubles with Miley Cyrus stemmed from competition for the favor of Nick Jonas.

"We never feuded," Gomez told W magazine in a March profile piece. "We both liked the same guy when we were 16. It was just a Hilary Duff - Lindsay Lohan thing: 'Oh, my God, we like the same boy.' We are now completely settled in our own lives."

The 23-year-old "Come Get It" singer, whom the magazine dubbed the "most popular girl in America," has moved past such petty arguments to become a full-fledged pop star, as well as a Sundance actress.

"Every single girl has done it completely differently," Gomez said, referencing the constant comparisons she receives to fellow Disney alum Cyrus and others. "Obviously she wouldn't want to be doing what I'm doing, and I wouldn't want to be doing what she's doing. But I'm a fan of her music -- I don't know if she'd say that about me."

Gomez was just as open in admitting she has grown tired of her seemingly never-ending drama with on-again, off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber. She said their relationship has sometimes made her life feel like just a tabloid story. The two were last publicly seen together in Beverly Hills in late November, when Bieber serenaded her with a rendition of "My Girl."

"I'm utilizing social media right now because of my age and because, to be honest, everybody else in the world was talking about me, so I wanted a f*cking say," she added, before admitting she even hopes to move past the demands of her public persona in the next few years.

Through it all, Gomez has managed to stay true to her music. She's currently working nonstop to promote her album "Revival." She also recently released the video for her hit "Hands to Myself" and performed the song to rave reviews during an appearance on "Saturday Night Live."
