The love and admiration for beloved Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla continues to swell more than 20-years after her untimely demise.

A fan has now started a Change.org petition asking legendary Barbie doll maker Mattel to create a doll exclusively in her honor.

"We want Mattel to create an official Selena doll in her likeness," reads the petition launched by fan Remy Ocampo. "There has yet to be any curvy Hispanic Barbie dolls in any Barbie line and we think Selena is a perfect candidate for that kind of representation. Selena was truly a person to be admired and I think young girls and boys would appreciate having a Selena doll in their collection."

Since her tragic death more than two decades ago, the legendary Latino singer has only seemed to grow in stature. She's credited with inspiring countless performers, including Jennifer Lopez, who famously played her in a biopic.

Shortly after being launched, Teen Vogue reported the petition had already collected nearly 2,000 signatures. Fans also point out Selena dolls were available in limited-edition release nearly 20 years ago and have since become highly sought-after collector's items.

Meanwhile, details about the second annual "Fiesta de la Flor," a festival honoring Selena's life were recently announced.

In conjunction with the Corpus Christi Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Q Productions entertainment company owned by her family announced on the festival's official website that the two-day outing will be held at the North Bayfront Park commencing on May 6 and expand to other venues.

"We are excited about the expanded footprint and elements that have been added to enhance the visitor experience at this year's 'Fiesta de la Flor,'" said Paulette Kluge, the CEO of the Corpus Christi Convention & Visitors Bureau, in a statement.

According to the Corpus Cristi Caller-Times, Quintanilla's widower, Chris Perez, explained building on the festival reflects the star's lasting legacy.

"[The expansion] is a testament to Selena's legacy, her music and how it affected the world," he said. "Everybody is there for one reason, and it's to celebrate Selena."

More than 70,000 attendees are expected to attend this year's festival, which brought in over $13 million to Corpus Christi last year.
